RWCs are required to sell or re-register a vehicle and, in some cases, to clear a police defect. The inspection must be carried out by an approved mechanic and is designed to ensure that the key components of the vehicle meet the basic safety requirements to drive on Victorian roads.
The inspection covers the following vehicle areas:

It’s important to note that the inspection does not include mechanical reliability, cosmetic condition or non-essential vehicle components.
